Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is a great anime that is a reincarnation of a past anime. The story encompasses a world with two distinct races, the humans and the 'demons.' (Demons in many Japanese anime are not like the demons of Western stories. Basically they can be explained as a magical race that come in various shapes and sizes.) These two races have constantly been at war with each other but when they start to work together their world starts to reveal many more interesting opportunities. Another interesting point about this drama is how it takes our own world history and overlays into this fictional world. You can see the emergence of the printing press, agricultural development and the rise of medicine just to name a few.
I feel like the illustrator did a good job finding a fusion of Japanese and Western illustration styles and the color pallet is unique to this anime but well done. The animation is also well done.
The conflicts tend to reflect the development of a civilization, however, there are some that are specific to character development as well.
I'm going to give Maoyuu Maou Yuusha a 3 out of 5 in anticipation of season 2.
